Mike Hochman, DVM
Dr. Hochman graduated from the University of Missouri in 2002. He joined the AEMC team in May of 2004 and is currently serving as Director of Medicine. Dr. Hochman's professional interests include emergency/urgent care, trauma, and internal medicine cases. Outside of work, he enjoys camping, hiking, scuba diving, photography and spending time with his wife and two children. Dr. Hochman and his family share their home with their cat, Hamlet, and two dogs, Maddie and Lily.
Alicia Ragni, DVM
Dr. Ragni has been a lifelong resident of Crystal Lake, leaving only to pursue her goal of becoming a veterinarian, which she did by graduating from the University of Illinois in 1990. Dr. Ragni has been on staff at Animal Emergency of McHenry County from its inception on April 1, 1997 until present, even having served as the first Director of Medicine, until stepping down in 2005 to enjoy her first love of clinical medicine. Dr. Ragni enjoys the challenges of emergency and critical care medicine, and moreover, enjoys helping not only her furry patients, but their owners as well.
Karen Turner, DVM
Dr. Turner graduated from the University of Illinois in 2002 and joined the AEMC team in July of 2007. Other than emergency medicine, Dr. Turner has special interests in physical therapy, rehabilitation and acupuncture. When she is not working, Dr. Turner loves golf, travel, snowboarding and spending time with her husband and two children. They share their home with their Boxer dogs, Mason and Piper, and two leopard geckos.
Kerry Lovell, DVM
Dr. Lovell graduated from Iowa State in 2000. Animal Emergency of McHenry County was proud to welcome him to our team in November of 2009. Dr. Lovell takes special interest in soft-tissue surgery and trauma. Outside of work, he enjoys playing guitar, golfing, and spending time with his wife and young twins. His animal companions include 3 dogs, Pedro, Gryffin, and Christopher, and a Tortie cat named Nermal.
Kelli Kramer, DVM
Dr. Kramer is from from Glenview, where she was a veterinary technician for 6 years before attending the Univerisity of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and graduating in 2007. Afterward, she lived in the Maryland-DC area for two years and completed a small animal medicine & surgery internship. In 2009 she moved back to Illinois with her husband (also a veterinarian) and started at AEMC in September 2009 as a relief doctor. Dr. Kramer finally joined the AEMC Team full time in May 2010! Aside from emergency medicine, she enjoys working at a day practice occasionally and has interests in cardiology and oncology. Outside of work, she loves to travel, scuba dive, hike and spend time with her family. She is owned by two cats; Drew, a sweetheart at home but a devil in the hospital, and Dharma, a crazy, talkative calico that loves to play fetch!
April Kung, DVM
After graduating from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Kung moved back to Illinois to be closer to her family. She joined the AEMC team in July of 2011 to pursue her interest in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Kung enjoys learning about different cultures, playing chess, and scuba diving. Dr. Kung's animal companions include her dogs: Monte, Max and Smiley, as well as her cats Opy and Marty.
